imgres.jpg

The holidays are here!  Be a part of the annual Lakemont

Luminary Display, Sunday December 18.

Bags of luminary supplies will be sold on the honor system Dec .

16-Dec 18 at the end of the Foit’s driveway (560 Lakemont Ct).

$10 per bag includes candles, bags and sand for 10 luminaries.

Most houses are good with one bag of supplies.

drinks and goodies around the fire pit. They will be open from

If you will be away consider enlisting a neighbor to set up your

770-518-2659 or Maura Roberts at 770-587-4343.

It's the kind of party Clark would support.....

Tis the season for the 22nd Annual Toys Party at  555 Lakemont Court, Friday, Dec. 2. 7 pm 'til whenever.  As always, it's a great time for a great cause.

What we do is so very appreciated by Roswell's Child Development Association (and is now actually in their budget).  It should be illegal how much fun we have doing it.  Feel free to register that complaint with the Mayor.  He will be politicking near the back porch keg.

The rules are the same.  Bring a some-assembly-required toy (like a bike, trike, wagon, razor, hoops goal) and the tools you will need for assembly.  You will have until the movie "It's A Wonderful Life" is over to complete your toy before the hazing (and help from others) starts.  [If you choose to to bring your toy already assembled, it will be accepted on behalf of the kids, but plan to accept grief from the boys.]

In addition to microbrew kegs, expect quality finger food, like Greenwood's chicken, Nine's quesadillas, Alessio's pizza, Montana's wings, and our official vegetable -- Outback's Bloomin' Onion.  No desserts served at this all-guy function.

Past firework displays by good samaritan neighbors have been heroic.  There are rumors that this year will feature a Viking funeral of three of last year's especially combustible X-mas trees.  [Garden hoses will be at the ready for the duration of this party.]

Feel free to bring as many of your buddies as you like.  Spread the good cheer.

Haunted Trail Tonight!

Friends,

7pm is go time!  We will have the kids waiting in our driveway, 580 Lakemont Court, while the little ones go through at 7:00 and the big kids following afterwards to enjoy a slightly amped up version of the haunted trail!

The Flamers' back yard has become quite a spectacle for evening haunts so come enjoy some Halloween fun on what's to be a beautiful fall evening!

Are the Flamers looking for renters?

NO!  But they would love an extra set of hands as the time has come to bring the haunted trail to life.  We will be working diligently Friday after lunch so anyone with an extra 30 minutes or an hour to spare would be greatly appreciated.

Seems our kids felt like they had the upper hand last year so this year we're pulling out all the stops. Come and contribute some time and energy to an evening these kids will be telling their kids about one day!

Happy Halloween!

Let's eat before we get treats!

Join us for the Archers' annual Pre Trick-or-Treating Party!
Come on over and have some chili and hot dogs, wine, beer, and soft drinks to get you ready for Trick-or-Treating!  The party starts at 5:00!

If everyone can sign up to bring something that would be great!  It is also a BYOB party for wine and beer (and any other adult beverages!)  If anyone needs to drop off their item early please email Kathleen (kmfoit2@aol.com) and we can set that up.

Hope to see everyone there!  Thank you to the Archers for hosting again!!

Please respond to all and we will keep track and send out the final list next week.

Thanks!

Canister drive, not to be confused with a CAN drive....

Jeff Flamer is getting crafty on us so anyone that might have a canister in their pantry that's on its way out, please just send it Jeff's way!  He's got plans to re-use these little unassuming jewels for some Halloween fun.  So, feel free to pass them along to Jeff, Maura, Kathleen or myself and we'll see that your contributions have a festive second life!

Also, a friendly reminder....RSVP if you'll be making the social this Saturday. You bring your beverage, the Homeowners Association has got your snack covered.  See you then!

Beth

*image is meant as an example...any canister in this fashion is a good canister. ; )

Put it on your calendar....

The next Lakemont Adult Social will be October 1st beginning at 7:30 at the top cul de sac.  We're mixing things up a little this year and the homeowners association will provide the finger foods leaving you to an afternoon of relaxation before coming our way for a little friendly neighborhood gathering. Really, this is just another way your homeowners association dollars are working for you! ; )

As for you, you have two jobs:
#1  RSVP to Maura, Kathleen or me.
#2 Bring your own beverage.

It's really that simple.

See you on the first!

A special thanks to the Rehkopf's!

We wanted to give a big shout out to our very own Dede Rehkopf, former MPE parent and current MPE grandparent!  She has been very busy working in MPE's courtyard. She and her husband, Tom, generously donated a roof and much needed repairs for the gazebo. Dede was a PTA VP 25 years ago and was instrumental in supervising an Eagle Scout project to build the gazebo and brick walk. She has always wanted to install a roof and had that completed this summer. Dede's granddaughter, Julia, is in 1st grade and her little brother Paul (who are our neighbors as well!) is a future Mustang. In honor of Dede and her family MPE will be naming the gazebo the P & J Pavilion. MPE students will continue to enjoy this outdoor classroom area for many more years!

So when you see Dede and Tom, give them a pat on the back and a big thanks!!

What a great night!

We had a blast at our first ever Screen on the Green!  What a fun night!  Thanks so much to our technical crew (Duane Lippincott, Jeff Flamer and Steve Foit) and to the Dana's for letting us invade their driveway.  We are going to do it again next month, so look out for details coming soon.  Even if you don't have little ones at home any more, come on by, it's a great chance to catch up with friends!

RHS Community send off for State Championship game

Let's get out there and support our team!  The RHS girls Lacrosse team is going to the State Championship game today!  It is especially important because there are two of our very own Lakemont neighbors that are playing in the game!!

PLEASE  SUPPORT  THE  TEAM  TODAY  AT  3:30PM ALONG  THEIR  ROUTE TO  THE  STATE  CHAMPIONSHIP!

GAME  TIME  5:00  MILTON  HIGH  SCHOOL

*Bus  leaves  high  school  at  3:30,  travels  right  down  Hardscrabble,  left  on  Crabapple  then  left  on  Birmingham  Hwy.

The team is working on getting the Roswell Community involved in celebrating the girls as they head the to the State Championship game today. When the football team went to state back in 2006, the community came out and lined the streets and cheered on the players as the buses left the school and went on their way. It was really fun for the families that participated and a great memory for the players.

Good luck girls!

May Day, May Day!

As you walk into the woods below the dam and you pass by all the debris that was cleaned out this SUNDAY give a salute and a thanks to the volunteer crew that made it happen. First off I want to thank Duane Lippincott for the advanced aerial bombardment and dealing a major blow to the weeds on the dam.  On Sunday the ground forces moved in, Scott Dana was leading the charge single handedly clearing out and re-enforcing the spillway near the bottom path. The second wave rode in with myself and Steve Foit bringing in the mechanized division to haul out the freedom hating debris, even our commander in chief Frank Sheridan took charge lending his leadership skills and more importantly his trailer. Also our trusted military advisor Richard O’Donnell dropped in providing muscle and guidance. Later the Calvary rode in with Dete Waehner riding his noble snapper to mow down the enemy weeds on top of the dam and along the entrance way. These enlistees herd the May-Day call, volunteered, and served their neighborhood bravely.
On a side note no beavers were spotted during the dam clean up, it was just us guys down there.

More Backyard Beauties!

Marlene sent me a pic of her bottle tree as well as a couple of pics of some natural beauties!

Nothing better than a blue hydrangea unless of course you then look at the 3rd picture and are quickly reminded how blessed we are to live in a neighborhood with this kind of asset.  The lake really is gorgeous!  Thanks, Marlene and Dete for sharing!

Spring bulbs or Spring bottles?

Now that the tulip bulbs have run their course, don't panic. The solution for some yard color might be as close as your next door neighbor!  Nope, not bulbs...bottles!

Bottle trees are making a come back.  Okay, I don't know that "come back" is really true but they are here and they're doing a nice job of adding color and whimsy to our outdoors.  I'm sure in some ways they are earth friendly, too!  Hello, recycled bottles.

This bottle tree is gracing the Flamer's property but from what I've heard, there are a couple of others hidden amongst us.  Send me a pic of yours and we'll add it to the collection.

Hope everyone's had a great weekend and stay tuned for some fun posts as well as updates on Screen on the Green and Lakemont dam workdays.

Test?

Lakemont,

This is a test post from our new blog, thelakemontgaggle.blogspot.com. If this makes it to your inbox, like it's supposed to, then feel free to check out our maiden post and leave a comment to let me know what you think.

Your patience in this process is appreciated while we get all the kinks worked out. Ideally, when a post is published, it will come to your inbox directly. Should you choose to linger, that's totally up to you!

Keep your fingers crossed!

And we're off!

Lakemont,

As you are all aware spring has certainly sprung and if you can stop sneezing long enough, go outside and enjoy it!  Beautiful spring blooms, lawns that are turning green before our very eyes and bare branches that are just beginning to bud with the promise of shady places to come are all around us.

We hope to use this blog to celebrate our own little slice of heaven. So if you have a bloom in your yard that is demanding attention or if your kids won't get out of the picture long enough to snap the shot you can send a picture of them too!  My email is jacquinbeth@gmail.com and I will happily include in our blog anything that is neighborhood oriented: the name of a great lawn care company, a new addition to the neighborhood (two legged or four!),  homeowner association reminders like upcoming meetings, work days, play days or general news that you feel would benefit your fellow neighbor.

As for current business:

Lakemont Homeowners' Association Dues are $150 and were due today, April 1st. Don't panic...we'll still take your money! : )

Lakemont Homeowners' Association Meeting will be April 10, 7pm in Frank and Lauren Sheridan's driveway, 535 Lakemont Court. BYOC----bring your own chair!

Screen on the Green will be reschedule for later in April. The revised date coming soon!

Work Day....if the rain kept you in last weekend, don't worry.  You'll have a chance to make it up so look for upcoming work days to be posted.

Neighborhood wide Garage Sale-May 21st

That's it for now!  Have a great weekend and let us know what you think about the blog!
